Sara Davies is a British businesswoman, Entrepreneur, and television personality born on April 23 1984, in Coundon. She is a founder and owner of Crafter’s Companion, which is a crafters supply company.

She joined Dragons Den in 2019, and the announcement for her joining the panel was made on the day of her 35th birthday. She replaced Jenny Campbell, who had left the show earlier that year. Sara is an MBE and is married. Other Dragons she has worked with include: James Caan, Kelly Hoppen, Tej Lalvani, Peter Jones, Deborah Medan

Sara and her husband Simon met while they were teenagers and have been married for 14 years and have two kids, Oliver and Charlie. The Duke made Sara an MBE of Cambridge at Buckingham Palace while she was pregnant and revealed that her father’s reaction to the news was shocking, where he stared at her and then started to cry. Her kids help out her sister Helen in the shop that Sara grew up in helping her parents, and she claims that Oliver and Charlie are better negotiators than she was at their age.

Her television career begun in 2005 when she hosted the show Be Creative on Local Television Limited channel, and she is currently on BBC two programme Dragons Den. She joined the panel in 2019 at 35 years of age, making her the youngest dragon, and she told the media that she was happy to join a show she had been watching for years but and had been invented to pitch to 13 years before 2019.

Sara Davies built her business from her university savings of only £5,000. She is known as the down to earth Dragon in the Den. Her company offers a wide range of products that include Dies and Die cutting machines and Embossing folders. She started her business while a student at the University of York, and it’s operational in North East England with products sent to over 40 countries and an office in California, USA.

The British power woman started her crafter’s supply company in 2005 and later graduated from the school with a first-class degree. She says that the idea comes after noticing a gap in the market for a tool that could be used to create bespoke envelopes for handmade cards. After noticing the gap, she worked with her former engineer dad to create a product that she called The Enveloper. She launched the product on the Ideal World channel and managed to sell over 30 units within six months of the launch. When she was graduating in 2006, the business was turning over £500,000. In 2018 the company’s turnover was put on £25 million with exports in 40 countries as of 2019.

She attributes her love for business and success to having grown up with parents who were business owners for 30 years, in which she frequently helped out along with her sister Helen. Growing up in the decorating store showed her the ropes at an early age and grew in her a determination to have her own business.

The youngest dragon has also expanded her empire by starting Crafters TV, which she describes as a digital crafting channel boasting a line up of ‘fantastic craft experts’ to carter for beginners and experts in the craft world.

Crafter’s Companion has bricks and mortar stores in Chesterfield and Evesham. Since 2012 it has grown its products to include art materials offering Spectrum Noir colouring and drawing supplies and a Threaders range for the sewing market with fabrics and sewing tools.

Through Crafter’s Companion, Sara is also involved in various charities through contributions and fundraisers within England and across the globe supporting local schools and sports teams in North East England. They also work with Breast Cancer Care, CLIC Sargent, a cancer charity for children, young people, and their families and Zoe’s Place the only baby-specific hospice in the UK. The company also offers exclusive club membership to its various clubs.

Sara Davies is 37 years old. In the 2016 New Year, Honours Davies was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire for her services to the economy. Her entrepreneur work has won her many awards, which are over 25, but among them are the Ernst & Young Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year award in 2012, the Entrepreneur of the Year award in 2013 at the Shell Women of the Year Awards and the Outstanding Contribution to British Business Award in 2019.

Sara Davies also takes mentoring roles to businesswomen offering support and guidance through the Entrepreneur’s forum.
