Peter David Jones CBE (born 18 March 1966) is a British entrepreneur, businessman, and investor known for his role as the longest-serving dragon on the BBC television series Dragons’ Den. He has been a panellist on the show since its UK debut in January 2005 and is the last remaining original dragon.

Peter Jones: Career Summary

Jones grew up in Maidenhead, Berkshire, and attended The Windsor Boys’ School. He started his first business at 16, a tennis academy in Windsor, followed by a computer business in his late teens. His early ventures suffered significant setbacks, including the loss of his home and cars when his computer business failed in his twenties.

In 1998, Jones founded Phones International Group, which grew rapidly into one of the UK’s largest mobile telecommunications distribution businesses. The Wireless Logic division was sold for £38 million in 2011. He also co-founded Data Select, owns Peter Jones TV, and has held investments in companies including Red Letter Days, Jessops, and Wonderland Magazine.

Jones was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the 2009 New Year Honours for services to business and entrepreneurship. In 2005 he founded the Peter Jones Foundation, a charity supporting enterprise education for young people, and later established the Peter Jones Enterprise Academy.

On Dragons’ Den

Jones has appeared on every series of Dragons’ Den since the show’s launch in 2005. He has invested in numerous businesses through the programme, including Levi Roots’ Reggae Reggae Sauce, iTeddy, and Wonderland Magazine. He has also appeared as a guest investor on the American counterpart Shark Tank.

The British series of Dragons’ Den is produced by BBC Studios in Manchester and originally aired on BBC Two from 4 January 2005, moving to BBC One in 2021.
